Mango's Fine Art Gallery is tucked away in the historic town of Speightstown on the gorgeous island of Barbados in the West Indies. It exhibits a retrospective of Michael Adams' work spanning over 18 years. The gallery displays this artist in solo.

The works are breathtaking and depict Creole & Island life, Botanical Gardens and Waterfalls from around the world in extravagant colors. We see the touch of the painter whose initial formation was master engraver. Through his palette and techniques of master engraver comes a series of hand-pulled silk-screens with as many as 130 color separations and hints of gold leaf, which adds a "forever changing" dimension. This solo show is the pride and joy of Gail & Pierre Spenard who have been one of Michael's collectors for over 18 years.

We visited 18 islands in the quest of finding the island of choice and we have found Barbados. After over a year of research, here we are on Barbados' West Coast with an art gallery totally devoted to Michael Adams. Its mission is to bring the art and presence of Michael Adams, a well known artist in the Far East, Japan, and Europe, to this side of the world.

We are fortunate to represent Michael Adams and to know him as a person, a friend, a poet, and an artist. Michael is of another realm. He is a great artist who can not stop creating. Even at the dinner table, he has a sketchpad to capture the moments. Like Gaugin or Cezanne, he has an inner need to express and he uses his palette to bring to life what he sees.

The Botanical Gardens of the world have been a never-ending source of inspiration for Michael for which he says, "I can return everyday, 365 days a year, to the same spot in the jungle and there will always be something different." Pierre met Michael in the early 80's and he mesmerized him. As a photographer, Pierre tried to see what Michael saw through his lens and captured the moments on film with timeless shots. Over the years, they have become extremely close, and be it art, conversation, or simply having a glass of wine, they relate to each other as only Capricorns can.

Michael and his wife Heather recently visited the Caribbean and Barbados in particular. They traveled and painted St. Lucia's two Pitons, Dominica's waterfalls and Barbados' Welchman Hall Gully and historical Speightstown. He has nine new watercolours in process from just these travels. Michael's passion for art has made him a world traveler. Over the past calendar year he has traveled extensively and his travels have brought him to Bali, Australia, Singapore, England, Switzerland, Germany and Israel. He writes in his letter paintings to us, "I am still in Barbados in mind. Welchman Hall Gully has enough jungle to keep me busy for a lifetime".

To become a collector, please call, write, fax or e-mail us. We would be happy to tell you a tale or two and share with you our passion for Michael Adams, his works and future plans.

Sincerely,

Gail & Pierre Spenard
