The long awaited catalogue book has finally arrived. The book was
recently published in Milan and shows a retrospective of all of Adams'
silkscreens with his vision and comments. The book is bilingual in both
English and German and all the prints are shown in magnificent full
colour. This large book of 97 glossy pages is beautifully printed and allows
you to revisit the artist and his perceptions. Included as part of the
book is an actual transparent film that the artist uses for one colour
separation. Each transparent film is done by hand, by Michael himself. You
will enjoy manipulating, as the artist does, by applying and removing the
separation over the print to see and understand how the silkscreen is
created. What you will find most interesting and thoroughly appreciate
about the book is the artist's perceptions and descriptions. For Michael,
every print has a tale to tell!
Each silkscreen print may take up to a year to create and the editions
are limited to 500. The artist and printer must work together in this
detailed and time consuming process. One transparent film is used for each
individual colour. The individual colour must be separated from the rest
by means of drawing with an opaque pen exactly where the colour is to be
printed. The films must be identified using a colour-code and numbered in
order of printing. After a few colours, the silkscreen has a life all its
own. There are up to 130 different colour films used for a Michael Adams
signed and numbered, hand-pulled limited edition silkscreen. Available artwork is limited to original watercolours and hand-made limited edition, signed and numbered silkscreens (starting at $800 US Dollars). Information on these can be obtained by e-mail info@mangosart.com or by calling Mango's Fine Art Gallery at (246) 422-0704. |
